in pittsburgh international airport.
been in pittsburgh for 3 days.
i met kristen...my lifeguard good friend.
she's nice enough to spend time with me...for this weekend.
thanks alot for showing me around and keeping me company.

things went great actually.
on the way from washington dc to pittsburgh.
i ran into 2 nice ppl, dott and johnny.
dott is a local pittsburgh...and she end up giving me a ride from the train station to pitt university.
johnny is a phillipino guy...that is going to california for a new job.
we were talking and chatting in the station and train.
got treated starbucks coffee and dinner....=)

in pittsburgh, i met kristen's friend,
derrick (kristen's boy), eddie, lindsey, liz, allen
all really really nice ppl...that though slighty childish. well, they are younger than me. so...
and i got to experience the 'american dinner' over at derrick's house.
oh...his mom and dad are jst so welcoming the 'malaysian' girl!
and spent the night over at kristen's. she really had lots of stuff in her room. pinkified totally.
and like abbey and snowball (doggies) too!
i'll continue this later...boarding plane now!

in the american dinner...i had grilled steak and crab cakes...nyam nyam
and for dessert...pumpkin pie, pumpkin roll, brownies and some apple + cinnamon thingy. delicious!
and i drank white wine with derrick's dad, mick.

i finally reached washington dc.
omg...it was quite a bit of adventure and i nearly never get here.
the megabus i took from NY to DC was stucked in the lincoln tunnel.
and it took forever to come!
in the end, we took off at another bus, which arrived earlier from DC.
that wasnt even our bus!
i dont really care, as long as i get to DC?

and i walked to my hostel, hostelling international washington DC.
it was quite ok for a cheap place, and i met 3 german guys.
they are very nice, and we spent the night touring together. *wink*
they are really sporting and cool!
hehe...
actually DC is quite boring.
besides musuem and monuments...nothing much.
but with this guys around...everything is much more interesting.

my camera ran out of battery...while i'm at union square. sad case!
so i decide to come back and jst chill at home
because of my sore and tired legs from too much walking!

current destination:
jersey city. new jersey.

today is my 2nd day in NY.
the weather's been really crappy this days.
its been raining on and off...and hurricane is expected to hit tommorrow. *i hope not*
yesterday...i met up with claudia, at 5th avenue.
kinda unexpected that she called me. it was her last day in NY.
she was too bored travelling alone, and so we hanged out together.

we went everywhere. by foot!
well, thats what i wanted to do anyway...because i dont wanna go do tourist stuff.
museums. tours. doesnt amused me abit.
we jst walk and sightsee...getting slight feel of what NY city its about.
i really like the night life here.
its busy busy and busy!
its a city that never sleeps...really.

11th july 2008. fri.

david brought me to some place name Huron!
there was a Festival.
apparently they have it on weekends only.

it is like a small fun fair.
where theres some rides, stalls, food, live music (band).
really like a fun fair of malaysia.

we head down to I-5 (bar) to meet his friend, Constantine and her gf.
he's a friend from around 5 years back, who also work in Cedar Point before, and now living in Boston.
we just talk and had beer.
and watch FIREWORKS! it was nice!!! *i think better than Cedar Point July 4th fireworks*

and later me and david grab some JUNK to feast at.
gyro - lamb. sweet potato fries. corn dog.

and the night ends early. cause we are both tired. =)

7th july 2008. mon.

i got off work at 8pm.
so i made plans with david.

we went for a late dinner.
CAMEO PIZZA
delicious thin crust pizza, full of toppings! its real good...
he said its the best pizza in the whole world....haha!
also drank beers and chat along.

Anthony came over.
and we went back to Dan's home for a second round.
drank vodka and more beer.
with 2 more girls, from somewhere in russia, Kaysa and (i forgotten her name, but she's real slutty - dont like her at all, apparently she's desperate for some 'Anthony')
Kaysa was good cause she actually learned Mandarin before, and could speak a bit of it. though i didnt understand her most of the time..,hehe...

Then, headed down Louie's
drank Long Island - supersize. *omg...its damn huge cup*
dance a bit.

got back to golds dorm around 3am.
i was so tired.
i just collapsed on my bed after i change.
and i woke up the next day, at 7.15am for work!

sunday 29th july 2008
best off day so far.

started off going wal-mart to get food.

came back, had lunch at cafeteria.

then when to the beach to meet this guy i meet here, David.
he's a guest here. currently staying in sandusky. close to cedar point.
i know him cause he's always at the beach, playing volleyball and swims.
he first approach me, cause he thinks i'm athletic.
he's been asking me out to go jet ski or play volleyball with him.
so finally i find time to hang out with him.

so we went off on his BMW, to his friend's house, to get his jeep and jet ski.
headed down his house for a while, to get his stuff
and went to put gas on the jet ski.
later we headed off the lake, with the jet ski.
and the wave is huge, because it was about the rain.
and i had lots of fun, soaking myself totally.
almost lose my cap for it, but we manage to find it floating in the lake, after circling the same spot over and over again.
and we went through the storm.
omg...i was scared for a moment.
because the rain was so heavy, it hurts on the skin when it hit it down, and everywhere was blinded, i was clueless where we actually are or what is surrounding us.
it was bad like for 5 mins.
and i had fun actually driving the jet ski. my first ever time. woohoo~~~
we went around sight seeing. cedar point. marblehead. pier.
FABULOUS~~~
the beach. the houses. the nature. the lake. the company.

after all that, he treated me to dinner, with his friends, joe, anthony and dan.
we went to Casa Real Mexican Restaurant in Sandusky.
AMAZING~~~
the mexican food was delicious!
Me and David had Dinner for Two and Lime Margaritas.

i had so much to eat, it was so damn good!

later, we went to get ice cream.
Toft's - they say its the best ice cream here.

OMG, it is HUGE!
we nearly can't finish it.
it was just simply, french vanilla, choc and strawberry ice cream, with banana, strawberry, raspberry. but it was nyam nyam~~~

then, we went to rent movies.
went back his house to watch Atonement.
but it was boring and it was putting people to sleep. HAHA...

got home around 12.
was really having fun today!
and i enjoy everything we did!

we shall play volleyball and watch a movie soon!

it was raining badly yesterday!
and we did nothing in the beach rental building for 2 hrs.
and the lightning was real beautiful!!!

save another girl again this morning!
after a rain just hit, so it was cold AGAIN!
and all this just happens within 5 mins, when i'm just temporarily substituting my friend who need to go restroom.
why they like to make me jump into the water when the weather is so cold?

haha...i nearly forgot about this...
a few people say i'm american. and so they thought!
they were paige, stephanie, samatha and roxanne.
haha...so damn funny.
they think my english is good, and so i'm an american.
paige so cute, met her in training and wave crew. she's the only one that manage to say my name at the first time without me having to repeat myself for thousand times! she's 19 and she's so small in size. how cute! like her a lot!
and there's sam. how sad that she moved back to wave, from beach. she's so cool, and is so nice hanging out with her. she's more of a party girl, but her straightforwardness impresses me!
roxanne, the great acting team leader, when the real team leader is not there! she's so organised and more considerate. though sometimes a bit demanding, but i had met worse!
stephanie. pffftttt....stupid team leader!

all of them thinks my english damn good. *sweat* my english not that good i think!

and this evening,
a guest, girl, came up and asked me,
'hi! are you 15?'
i'm like...'no, i'm 23'
and she's like...'*shocked*'

haha...
i save some little kid tonight.

it was a small girl.
she was too short, and went to the deeper end.
she actually manage to get there a few times.
who knows she ran out of energy,
then i have to jump in to the ICY COLD pool water to save her.
thats the really bad part.
i came out freezing cold.

so since i went back and change to my tracksuit, my team leader let me off early, around 10pm.
we were supposed to work til 12 midnight.
from 8am to 12am...crazy right???
i was so relieve to had been let off early....phew!

and have to maintain in good form tomorrow.
cause a few of my lifeguard friends fail the stupid test today.
maybe i'll be next...nobody knows...

hehe...i was sent off early from work today!
never felt happier.
this means a chance to rest well and actually unpacked.

my days in beach crew...
at first i like it A LOT! but now not so...
mainly cause i have a sucky team leader, with is so useless.
and i have to work from 8am - 11pm. 15 hours with only 1 hour break (sometimes 1.5 hours)
sigh...so tiring! and it's boring to just sit on the guard chair and stare at the water.
nowadays, due to cold weather, swimmers are always invisible!!!
i keep nearly fall asleep during work. that's bad!
and i have around 100 days to go?
OMG...

but apart from that, i'm getting my hours and cash. so no complains.
and i love some of the crew members. they are really nice people.

the beach crew:
brad. ashley. nicole and nicole. kristen. ruslan. samantha. trina. qianhui.

the beach area:
beach. breakers pool. breakers east pool. towers pool. marina pool. lighthouse pool. sandcastle pool.

oh...the funny thing is that ashley actually named me jen, as they can't pronounce qianhui. =p
and irony, jen IS my name. HAHAHA!

and also, i move in to GOLDS dorm (in the park)
it's so near my workplace. 5 mins walk. that's so much better than waiting for the bus.
means i can sleep longer! whee~~~

and tomorrow again will be a LONG day!
and i maybe tested for the dummy thingy! since i'm not tested yet.
damn scared lo! cos trina failed today! OMG...some more i quite sleepy this days! *sigh*
and we may need to dash into the lake to save a stupid fake missing kid! *damn!*

Training...2nd Day!

i finished my training today!
haha...it was ok.
but every week, we have to refresh ourselves on the emergency rescues, which makes me eligible for training 1 hour every week. well, just like taking refreshments. =p

todays training was a little pathetic.
because the supervisor, danielle, have nothing much to teach us.
anyway, thats because she taught too much yesterday. *sweat*
and today was kinda boring, cause we just keep on having breaks.

oh, today the soak city was close again, due to the cold weather.
hah...luckily i'm on training.

and i was assigned to the BEACH CREW!
means i'm working on the beach of lake eerie.
hehehe...and i get longer hours!
means more money...i hope!
and the beach don't close as often i think...?
and i love the beach!
oh but sometimes, i think we need to guard the hotels' pool.
but actually i love that too. smaller area, not that tiring!

but i'm a bit concern about my capability to lifeguard.
mainly because of my vision. my eyes are not really in top form.
and we have to be very alert to the water and surroundings.
sigh...crossing my fingers in surviving all the tests!

i pass the basic test today.
but they say sometimes other people will come and put fake dummies in the pool, and you have 20 secs to respond. if not you fail. OMG...damn scared.
and this goes for the whole summer.

tomorrow...working at 8am.
and i have a 'international training' like from 3pm - 4.30pm.
but i'm not sure whether i can make it into the training.
sine they are short of lifeguards.
maybe i'm not allow to leave.
but i don't wanna miss the training.
i have to reschedule, and i can't be with my friends.
well...we'll see tomorrow.

Training...1st Day!

phew~
today was my 1st day of training for lifeguarding!

i don't know whether is lucky or what,
but cause of the EXTREMELY cold weather out in the park,
soak city was closed for the day.
but due to the training, i still get my hours.

ok...back to training...
its the usual stuff, where you learn CPR.
pffffttt...but i think they taught the wrong stuff.
and they are so not organised.
no step by step method.
they just go bla bla bla...and expects you to take it all in 1 go.
luckily i learn it before, so it is less painful for me.

and then we moved on to the pools.
ah...seriously, some of them are too fat to swim ok.
no kidding!
and its stupid...how can you have a swimming test in a swallow pool, when people can just walk?
anyway, things was alright, the swimming stuff was piece of cake to me.

the only thing now i'm trying to figure out is...
how the hell can i mixed in with the americans?
i don't see any common topics with them man...
this is tough...
sigh!!!

3rd day at work!

here's the point,
after working for 3 days as a lifeguard in cedar point,
i had made a conclusion!
-being a lifeguard is just acting cool with a stylish sunglasses and outlook-

okla...my bet! of course we can't expect ppl to drown every minute.
of course our job is just to make sure everyone is safe.
hehe...but really hor... damn boring!

seriously, i did nothing but stand, walk and stare!
i should have really learn the important skills of sleep while standing.
i should have learn it from chai ann. she's definitely good at sleep-standing! =p

anyway, i hope i can get extra hours, so that i can cover everything i had come out with.
tried my luck in Mc D, but unfortunately i dont have my social security number yet!
and i went sweeping floors yesterday night.
may i remind you, i don't like my supervisor, so useless.

and i'm starting my training tomorrow.
hopefully i survive.
heard its tough.

quite sad that no pics are post yet.
i cant really spend time here yet.
as the wireless is unstable.
and pics are still in peoples camera.
and i'm not getting any off days this week.
sigh...sad...
feel like chilling out.
and i said this only after 3 days.

lifeguarding!

first day as a lifeguard in Cedar Point,

errr....quite damn extremely BORING!
kla...maybe cause its my 1st day.
they can't give me anything except stupid jobs.
and anyway i haven't gone through training yet...so...
but its still stupid boring and misuse of my skills or brains!

things i was told to do:
1. arrange chairs
2. height checking (you know...check peoples height who are going to the wave pool)
3. operate eeries falls (ok...this is better, at least i can use my finger to push a button)
4. watch whirlpool (guide children to go down the slide 1 at a time)
5. watch tsunami (also...guide children to go down the slide 1 at a time...just a different slide)

see...how boring can this be!
somemore have to get wet...and its FREEZING!
sigh...a bit regret to take on lifeguard.
BUT, their uniforms are the COOLEST of all!!!

i'm wearing this white t-shirt and red shorts! with red wisel hanging on my neck, sunglasses on me, and a brown cloth hat (like cowboy style).
and the tracksuit is also red. with GUARD sew at the back, white in colour!

best entertainment in airport - Changi (they have whatever you can think off, Wii, movie theatre, a lot of TVs'...etc). p/s: omg...you should really see how the guys cheered in the Man U vs Chelsea game...CRAZY!
best company - earphones!

okie...spending like 2 full days travelling to US, the not bathing for 2 days part, sucks like hell! and the weather! OMG...so damn cold! and they say this is summer! its colder than rainy days in m'sia. *sweat* and actually going so many airports, its kinda cool! chicago was so damn busy...everyone walk so fast, in speed, i wonders where are they rushing to. and cleveland international airport sucks. maybe i said this because it have nothing! and i mean NOTHING! Changi...love love! you will never get bored in Changi! they have everything to keep you so awake! and i think i can survive in Changi...like forever, similar or better than entertainments at home! seriously! KLIA...sad case. you better buckle up! you are so lousy!

anyway, after reaching here, like only 2 days, i think americans are slightly snobbish! not all...but mostly. the people that i really respect and are most friendly, is actually the older ones. The youngsters here, can go die. i ask them question, all of them ignore me like for 1 min, and i just stood there, i was like...is it that i can't speak properly! what the hell...only i don't answer people ok, not the other way round. i don't like them. BUT, i love the hunkies lifeguard friends, the few guys that i'm still not close with, they are good at their job, and they approaches me, asking how was my day and all, this is what i call friendly and respect. LEARN them you idiot!

and this is only my 1st day of work. how to survive another 4 mths of facing idiots?
hopefully things will be better.

and i miss home a lot!

on the 21st may 2008,
i took off in a boeing 727, japan airlines, from KLIA to Changi!
haha...it only took like 35 mins.

this is only my 1st part of my journey to US.
i still have like more than 24 hours of flight to catch.
haih...very long days. time spent all in airports.

next stop will be Tokyo!
woohoo~~~
but its a 7 hours flight....=(
this is so not good.

of course, its something i must go through to get to US.
haha...hopefully i will like it there.
currently, not feeling homesick at all, because i still have friends around.
imagine if i'm here alone....i think i will so burst into tears!
its really scary ok! to travel around alone.
